Noel Gallagher has insisted he would still back Tony Blair for PM - as he warned Keir Starmer not to miss an 'open goal' at the election.
The former Oasis star harked back to the glory days of Cool Britannia as he gave a distinctly lukewarm verdict on the current Labour leader.
Speaking on Times Radio, Gallagher - who famously chatted to Blair at a celebrity-strewn reception in No10 - was asked if there was a 1997 feeling about politics at the moment.
'I'd still vote for Tony Blair in the morning if he was back in the game,' the singer said.
The Manchester City fan compared Sir Keir's position to Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez, who has a reputation for missing easy scoring chances.
And he suggested that nothing fundamental will change if he does manage to get the keys to Downing Street.
'Do I have a view on Keir Starmer? He's got an open goal with this Tory government. If he can't score it, I mean, you know, it'd be worse than Nuñez.'

Pressed that Sir Keir was unlikely to be as bad as Nunez, Gallagher said: 'Look, it's time for a change. Everybody can feel it.
'The country has gone to the dogs after Brexit, whether you like it or not, everybody was lied to.
'It's not been great. Can the Labour Party turn it around?
'I guess the needle swing, you know, to the left for a while.
'And then, you know, things, they rarely change that drastically, you know. But it's time for a change, if only for the mood of the country.'
Sir Keir is a vocal supporter of Arsenal, who were narrowly closed out by Manchester City on the last day of the Premier League title race yesterday.
Gallagher was dismissive of the chances of Sir Keir making a big difference in power.
'When a new government comes in, there'll be some big symbolic thing and everybody will go great.
And then, you know, after a few years, they'll just, you know, everything just kind of settles down to the way it is...
'But, you know, some people will benefit from it. Some people will suffer by a change of government. That's just the way that these things are.'
